Alexander Julian Banks Croker (born 1989, UK)

1994 – First bike was a silver ‘Universal’ Mountain Bike bought off his cousin for £10.

1995 – Learnt to cycle in Lime Rd, Alresford.

1996 – Crashed the ‘Universal’ down the hill at Beech Rd, Alresford. Mother told him off for “riding his bike on unsuitable ground”, he replied that “it was a mountain bike!”

Summer 1997 – Spent a few year’s Christmas and Birthday Money on a red ‘Raleigh’ Mountain Bike.

Summer 1998 – Completed cycling proficiency course at Sun Hill Junior School.

August 2000 – Helped teach brother to ride a bike in Couran Cove, South Stradbroke Island, Australia.

Easter 2002 – Cycled 20 miles in a day to visit a girl he liked in Preston Candover. She wasn’t there.

2003-4 – Cycled to various girls’ houses in round trips of up to 20 miles.

May 2005 – Cycled 25 miles to give apology CD to girlfriend.

October 2005 – Began cycling to the local newsagents at 5am for work.

December 2005 – Crashed into a tree on the way to work.

September 2007 – Left bike at home whilst heading to University.

October 2007-present – Bike sits sadly in a garage in Cornwall, with two flat tires and a rusty chain.

November 2011 – Formed plan to cycle across America in Cambodia.

16 December 2011 – Began training with a 50km cycle around Sydney.

January 2012 – 200km of bike miles around Melbourne.

5 February 2012 – Furthest ever cycle of 87km around Otago Peninsular.

25 March 2012 – set out from Los Angeles in first stage of 4,000 mile trip to New York City…

Not exactly the CV of someone who’s well prepared to cycle across America.
